Hi! I’m Tommy. I’m an artist practicing in many disciplines - acting, composing, songwriting.
I am driven by curiosity of the world and people, exploration of character, investigation of the self, experimentation with poetry and form, and by the simple joys of making cool sounds and stories and sharing my observations and creations with other people. I love history, traditional stories, myth, finding the layers in the soil we stand on. The planet, sustainability, the environment, social justice, family, labor rights, treating people and communities well and with dignity — these all matter a great deal to me.

Recently, my musical VERMONT FARM PROJECT (aka STRAWBERRY SEASON), created with book writer Jess Kahkoska and developed/directed by Sarah Wansley, enjoyed a world premiere at Northern Stage in May 2025 at Northern Stage in White River Junction, VT. The show is inspired by three years of interviews with farmers in Vermont and New Hampshire. It follows the lives of 8 farm workers spanning many generations over one June day, performed by a cast of 5 extraordinary actor-musicians. The audience and critical response was incredible. You can read about it in American Theatre Magazine here.
Other recent projects I have loved include working as an actor and musician on a new musical by Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Torq Campbell (Stars), and Daniel Handler (Lemony Snicket) at Berkeley Rep’s Ground Floor, and playing Jack Ludwig in Dear Jack, Dear Louise at Shaker Bridge Theater.
As an actor I’ve played roles on stages around the country and developed close to a hundred new plays in readings and workshops with dozens of theaters.
I sing and play guitar, mandolin, piano, harmonica, and most things with keys or strings. As a solo singer-songwriter, I perform around Vermont and elsewhere. I love sharing my music with new audiences. I’m known for skillful playing and singing, rich lyricism, and relaxed and engaging shows. I write about family, society, love, nature, angst, and more.
In New York City, where I lived and worked from for 12 years, I co-founded and led via a collective model critically acclaimed folk-rock band and theater ensemble The Lobbyists. With them, I co-created the “seagoing masterpiece” (Nathaniel Philbrick) SEAWIFE. Our music was nominated for a Drama Desk Award. Something between Vermonter and New Yorker, or perhaps nether or both, I currently primarily live in Vermont, where I closely work with Northern Stage and other area theaters while raising my young daughter and son. I remain deeply connected to New York via family, work, art, and friends.
Some thoughts: Theater is divine; theater is profane. Silly, serious. Pointless, the point. Beautiful, ugly. Utterly hopeless; completely full of hope. It mocks the world, yet creates its own world.

Reach out for bookings via the booking / contact tab. I don’t do a lot of social media. If you want to stay in the loop, shoot me a message and I’ll sign you up for my mailing list, old school way. I send out an email every month or two.
Thanks for spending some digital time with me here. Hope to see you soon at a play or concert too!
This is my new music video. I made it with Mike Cannon with cut paper, watercolors, fingerpaint, and a little magic.
